High School Head Dance Coach 

Position Title: Head Dance Coach
Location: Liberal High School
Reports To: Athletic Director
Employment Type: Part-time

Position Summary

Liberal High School is seeking a passionate, organized, and student-centered Head Dance Coach to lead and develop a competitive and/or performance-based dance program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive team culture, promote school spirit, and support the growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead all practices, performances, and competitions
• Develop choreography for routines (sideline, halftime, pep assemblies, competitions, etc.)
• Establish and maintain high standards for discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship
• Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that supports student growth and well-being
• Coordinate and supervise team participation at school and community events
• Manage program logistics including scheduling, uniforms, music, and equipment
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, administration, and staff
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state/activity association policies
• Oversee assistant coaches (if applicable)
• Support academic success and monitor athlete eligibility

Qualifications

• Previous dance coaching or relevant dance experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of dance technique, choreography, and performance preparation
• Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor high school students
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Availability for after-school practices, evenings, and occasional weekends
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Must meet all district employment and background check requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coaching at the high school or competitive level
• Background in multiple dance styles (pom, jazz, hip-hop, etc.)
• Experience with choreography for competitive routines
• Knowledge of judging criteria and competition standards
